Who was Prince Philip with when he died?

As yet no official statement has revealed who was by Philip's side when he died.

However, according to a report from the Telegraph, the Duke of Edinburgh died with the Queen by his side in his final moments.

After his hospital stint, Philip is said to have wanted to die when the time came "in his own bed" and "on his own terms."

A royal source said: "He spent most of the four weeks he was in hospital trying to get home.

"They operated on his heart in a bid to give him a little longer, maybe with the 100th birthday in mind. But he didn't really care about that,"

"There is no way he would have wanted to die in hospital."

On Friday Prince Charles was seen heading to Windsor Castle to comfort his mother.

The royals will gather on Saturday, April 17 for the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral - which will take place at St George's Chapel.

Prince Harry has reportedly flown over from his Los Angeles home to attend his grandfather's funeral.

His wife Meghan Markle has remained at home with their one-year-old son Archie on the advice of doctors, as she is pregnant with the couple's second child.

Prince William today issued a touching tribute to his grandfather, saying he knew Philip would want the family to "get on with the job".

The picture shared with the tribute was of a young Prince George sat atop a horse and carriage with his great-grandfather Prince Philip, taken by Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

In the posts shared on the Kensington Royal Twitter and Instagram pages, William wrote: "My grandfather's century of life was defined by service - to his country and Commonwealth, to his wife and Queen, and to our family.

"I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life - both through good times and the hardest days.

"I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her.

"I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!"

He added he and his wife would "continue to do what he would have wanted and will support the Queen in the years ahead".

Prince Harry also issued a statement on Monday, saying his grandfather was "authentically himself" and a "master of the barbecue".

Harry wrote of Philip: "He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm -- and also because you never knew what he might say next.

"He will be remembered as the longest-reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke."But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end."
